The eastern tiger swallowtail is the state butterfly of Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. It’s also the state insect of Virginia!
This detailed sculpture was made using vitreous enamel (pulverized glass) that was applied by hand, using a delicate sprinkling method layered over solid copper and then kiln-fired. It has a metal circular hook for hanging.
